NOMINATIONS are now open for the 2025 PNG Media Awards. Only open for the month of March, Editors and News Managers have been encouraged to provide nominations for the 18 Categories covering Journalism, Print, Radio, Television, Online and a category of Special Awards.

Nominations for the 2025 awards are only open to mainstream MCPNG Media Members and cover publications and broadcast programmes aired within the past year from May 3rd, 2024, to February 28th, 2025.

MCPNG President Neville Choi says with the Media Awards returning after a 10-year hiatus, it was the decision of the MCPNG Management Council to keep the awards nominations open only to member newsrooms.

Mr. Choi also said that if any member of the general public feels strongly that a journalist or a piece of journalistic work requires acknowledgement with an award, they are encouraged to contact the newsroom from which this publication or production was created, and suggest it as a nomination.

“The 2025 PNG Media Awards is our attempt to bring back an event that was focussed solely on ourselves in the industry. Keeping nominations closed to industry gives our media members the chance to present what they see as their best contributions as news organisations,” Mr. Choi said, adding that next year’s awards would incorporate a wider reach of nominations.
